SOBRE EL RITUAL DEL ALCAUCIL En las afueras de Buenos Aires existe un barrio construido alrededor de dos cementerios. Entre vírgenes y ofrendas paganas, los ancianos recitan memorias y olvidan fantasmas. Niñas y niños inventan su infancia con tumbas y hamacas. El olvido es un territorio donde se deslizan estas criaturas, que sienten pasar el tiempo, aunque ya no son parte de él. Los miedos se pasean entre las sombras de los desaparecidos, hay silencio donde debería haber voces y lo cotidiano se convierte en ritual.

PROYECTO DESARROLLADO EN ACAMPADOC FESTIVAL INTERNACIONAL DE CINE DOCUMENTAL | PELÍCULA REALIZADA CON APOYO DEL INSTITUTO NACIONAL DE CINE Y EL FONDO NACIONAL DE LAS ARTES
PALABRAS DE LA DIRECTORA "El ritual del alcaucil" transcurre en un barrio construido alrededor de dos cementerios, el Cementerio Municipal de Avellaneda y el Cementerio Israelita. Ahí nací y viví durante 30 años, a metros de las fosas comunes que negaron la identidad de jóvenes asesinados por el terrorismo de estado y de las calles que vieron desaparecer a familias enteras. De este mundo surge la necesidad de cuestionar el modo en que se constituyen las memorias colectivas, a partir de un acontecimiento particular: En el año 2001, con un compañero de la escuela de cine, rodamos en el Cementerio de Avellaneda. Tomamos imágenes del osario común, de las tumbas rotas y de los fondos abandonados. Años más tarde, en 2009, el Equipo Argentino de Antropología Forense (EAAF), reconoció el cuerpo del padre de mi compañero, desaparecido en 1977 por la Dictadura Cívico-Militar. Lo habían hallado en una fosa común en el mismo cementerio, en el lugar donde, casi jugando, habíamos buscado imágenes del olvido.
No pude evitar preguntarme cómo pude atravesar tantas veces el cementerio, sin que nadie me hablara nunca del horror que residía –o reside- en esas calles. Cómo podía ser que de repente el pasado me llegara desde lejos, cuando todo había sucedido frente a mi plaza, mi escuela, mi casa. Entonces también tuve que cuestionarme: ¿Quiénes son los que olvidan? ¿Cómo se construye ese olvido cotidiano? ¿Qué será aquello que olvidamos hoy y será punto ciego de la memoria mañana?

Between virgins and pagan offerings, the elderly recite memories and forget ghosts. Girls and boys invent their childhood with graves and hammocks. Oblivion is a territory where these creatures glide, who feel time pass, although they are no longer part of it. Fears wander among the shadows of the disappeared, there is silence where there should be voices and everyday life becomes ritual.

There I was born and lived for 30 years, meters from the mass graves that denied the identity of young people killed by state terrorism and from the streets that saw entire families disappear. From this world arises the need to question the way in which collective memories are constituted, based on a particular event: In 2001, I shot with a male-classmate from the Institute of Cinematographic Art of Avellaneda, some experimental images at the municipal cemetery. In 2009, the Argentinian Team of Forensics Anthropology recognised the body of my classmate’s father, found in a common grave after having been declared as “missing” by the Military Government that engendered a genocide between 1976 and 1983. The father was found in the very place where we had sought the images of the oblivion.
Since then, I wonder how could I cross those paths a thousand times without being told about the horror that resides in there; how the past comes from afar when everything happened in front of me. How is that the ritualization of the oblivion is created? What is going to happen with what we forget today becoming a blind spot in the memory of a further time?

ACAMPADOC es el único festival en Centroamérica y el Caribe que vincula formación, realización y fomento del género documental al rescate de los patrimonios.
